This article is written to know about the selection process and syllabus of UP Police Sub Inspector (SI) (Daroga).In Uttar Pradesh; there is a dedicated recruitment board for police recruitment, Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (uppbpb.gov.in). The latest recruitment of SI notification 2016 is in process. In this article, I am going to tell you -

In UP, there are three ways to getting into Sub Inspector -
  1. Through direct recruitment examination
  2. Through a limited departmental examination
  3. Through Seniority based departmental promotion
  4. Through dependents of deceased police employees
  5. Through an out of turn promotion

Here I will tell you the recruitment/ selection process of UP SI direct recruitment. According to 2016 notification, there are four stages in up SI selection process-
  1. Online Written Examination
  2. Documents verification & Physical Standard Test (PST)
  3. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) (Running)
  4. Medical test and Merit list

1-Online Written Examination of UP SI:-

Examination Pattern for SI:- there will be the Online exam of 400 marks consisting of optional type & multiple-choice questions. The examination will be conducted in both Hindi and English language, but General Hindi portion part will be in Hindi. There will be an objective type of online exam. There will be a total of 160 questions in the online exam, each question is 2.5 marks. There will no negative marking for any wrong answer given by the candidates. The Exam will be a total of 400 marks of 160 questions. The exam duration will be 02:00 hours (120 minutes).

Note- In the written examination, the Candidates must have to obtain 50% marks in each subject to qualify in the written examination.

Salary of SI: Rs. 9300-34800/- Grade Pay Rs. 4200/.

Eligibility Criteria:

Nationality:  The candidate must be a Citizen of India and refugee of Tibbets and other as per rule.
Age Limits: A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 28. SC/ST/OBC (maximum 05 years)/ other get the age relaxation as per rule.
Minimum Educational Qualifications: 
For SI civil police and platoon commander PAC: The candidate must hold a bachelor degree of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India.
For SI Fire Service: The candidate must hold a bachelor degree in science stream of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India.
Other Additional Qualification: 1- O level certificate from the NEILIT or the DOEACC. 2- Minimum 2-year service in the Territorial Army. 3- B certificate of NCC.

2-Documents verification & Physical Standard Test (DV-PST):  

The documents verification process will be started after written exam qualify, the candidates produce original academic documents and other relevant documents before the Board at the time of documents verification.

Note: Minimum 05 cm expansion of chest is necessary for Male Candidates

3-Physical Efficiency Test (PET):

The Physical Efficiency Test is only for qualified candidates in DV & PST. There will be a race-
 Male – 4.8 KMs in 28 minutes and
 Female – 2.4 KMs in 16 minutes.
This race is qualifying in nature.



4-Medical Examination and Merit list:

The medical examination will be done after the selection of the above three stages by the medical board and whoever qualifies the medical examination, the merit list will be prepared based on a written test. whoever secured their name in the merit list, will be selected for appointment by up police recruitment board.

Exam Syllabus of UP SI:-

General Hindi:- 

Hindi Grammar- (Noun, Pronoun, Adjective, Idioms & Phrases, tense, verb), Use of Words, Antonym, Synonym, One Word Substitutions, Sentence Correction, Hindi and regional language, famous poets, awards in the Hindi language, Miscellaneous.

Law & Constitution:- 

General Knowledge, Indian Constitution, Aim of Constitution, Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles, Rules & Regulations of constitutional Amendments, All India Service, Information about social Law related to women, children, Reservation of SC/ ST, IPC, CRPC, right to information acts, Environment, Wild Life Conservation, Human Rights, Traffic Rules, National Security Issues, Principle of Crime Punishment, Right of Self Defence, General awareness about Law.

General Knowledge:- 

In this objective of questions about general knowledge of the surrounding society of the candidates to test the awareness about the surrounding activities. Sports-Athlete such as essential knowledge, Questions about towards a scientist sight and decision making which expected from an educated person. Focus on affairs about India and its adjacent countries too. Indian Languages, Books, Script, Capital, Currency, Scientific Progress/Development, National/International Awards.

Numerical & Mental Ability Test:-

Numerical Aptitude:-

Number System, Profit & Loss, Discount, Simple Interest, Compound Interest, Distance, Use of Table & Graph, Simplification, Partnership, Time & Work, Decimal & Fraction, HCF LCM, Ratio & Proportion, Percentage, Mensuration, Miscellaneous.

Mental Ability Test:-

Direction Sense Test, Logical interpretation of data, Codification, Perception Test, Word formation Test, Letter and number series, Word and the alphabet Analogy, Common Sense Test, Logical Diagrams, Symbol-Relationship Interpretation,  Letter and number coding, Forcefulness of argument, Determining implied meanings & Miscellaneous.

Mental Aptitude Test/ Test of Reasoning /Intelligence Quotient Test:-

Public Interest, Law & Order, Communal Harmony, Mental strangeness,  Crime Control, Professional Information (Basic level), Rule of Law, Ability of Adaptability, Police System, Contemporary Policy Issues, Basic Law, PIL (public interest litigants), Interest in Profession, Sensitivity towards, Gender sensitivity and minorities, underprivileged,.

Intelligence Quotient Test:-

Spotting out the dissimilar, Relationship and Analogy Test, Series Completion, Direction Sense Test, Coding-Decoding, Blood Relation, Time sequence test, Problems based on the alphabet, Venn Diagram & chart type test, Arranging in order, Mathematical ability Test.

Test of Reasoning:-

Similarities, Analogies, Differences, Problem solving, Space Visualization, Analysis and Judgment, Visual memory, Decision-making, Discrimination, Relationship, Observation, Concepts, Arithmetical number series, Ability to cop up with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationships, Arithmetical computations and other analytical functions, , Arithmetical reasoning, Verbal and figure classification.

Dear aap up si ke liye four parts ki tayyari kare general hindi ke kiye basudev nandan ki books le sakte hai or math ke liye RS Agarwal, Reasoning ke liye SR publication ya koi good book jo achhi lage bookseller par aur sambidhan ke liye aap pratiyogita darpan ka atiriktank , ipc crpc, another major acts etc keliye online pdf pad sakte hai.currentes ke liye daily newspaper monthly PD pad sakte hai... Math, reasoning kisey lekar practice karein. Indian constitution ko deeply pade.
